Project Manager | Yacht Designer

Description
Reporting to the Team Principal, the Project Manager is responsible for their project or will work with a Senior Project Manager if the size or complexity of the project warrants it, managing both the internal and external team to ensure that the project they are responsible for is delivered on time, in budget and to an exceptional standard. They need to work closely with the Head of Finance and team administrator to ensure the project is running within the budget of allocated time and resources.

  • Salary range DOE - £40,000 to £60,000 per annum

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
  • Create and maintain RWD project planning and work schedule and synchronise with Project Build schedule to ensure that all RWD information is supplied on time.
  • Liaise, co-ordinate, and correspond with the project team i.e. shipyard, client manager, Captain, naval architects, and sub-contractors.
  • Actively manage the client relationship, identifying issues that could affect it and know how to communicate such issues effectively to the Client and also know when to escalate the issue to the Team Principal.
  • Effectively communicate and translate the interior or exterior design information to the Client and Shipyard.
  • Prepare for and represent RWD at project meetings, including overseas visits, with or without a Director present.
  • Reporting to the Team Principal at regular intervals on progress of tasks and update with project work both internally and at the shipyard.
  • Working closely with the Head of Finance to track project expenses and communicate progress on deliverables to ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Regularly review projects to ensure they are delivered within budget for time allocated, constantly mindful of identifying efficiencies.
  • Identify opportunities to develop existing client business, providing added value advice and recommendations.
  • Keep up to date with latest industry news and developments.
  • Draft the General Arrangement plans for review
  • Working closely with the creative teams to meet design brief
  • Provide CAD drawing and 3D models to shipyard and/or subcontractor manufacturers
  • Organise and supply information to visualisers


KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS
  • Graduate or Masters level in Yacht or Transport design
  • 5+ years’ project management experience.
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Exceptional client relationship skills with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to think on your feet, making project decisions that ensure client expectations are met, whilst also knowing at what point to escalate to the Project Lead/Project Director for support.
  • Ability to focus on individual detail whilst maintaining a good overall view.
  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of industry standards and yacht codes.
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of AutoCAD, Indesign, MS Project
  • Hand sketching desirable
